When I think salsa, I automatically think about tomatoes and tortilla chips. But “salsa” is really just a word for “sauce.” They can be chunky or smooth, with or without heat, and use a variety of ingredients. This chunky salsa features mangoes and avocados. The flavour is fresh and bright, creamy and a little bit sweet. Chopped raw shallot adds a spicy little kick at the end. Super easy to make, very nutritious, and perfect for a summer picnic. Goes really well with pork or chicken, too.
Mango Avocado Salsa
1 ripe mango, diced
- 2 small avocados, diced
- 1 small shallot, finely chopped
- juice of one lemon
- a little lemon zest
- dash of garlic powder
- S&P to taste
- chopped fresh cilantro
Mix everything together in a bowl. Store leftovers covered in the fridge.
Thanks for sharing – this looks divine… very yummy! Cheers… love your blog title pic… Alissa
Thank you. For those who may not know, that’s the Vancouver city skyline. I’m very fond of it.
I’ve never thought of combining these two ingredients. Pretty interesting; will have to try it.
Mangoes (and peaches) are really good additions to tomato-based salsas, too.
Mango avocado salsa is fabulous! I like to add some jalapeno too for spice sometimes.
I’m still a bit of a spice wimp when it comes to hot peppers, but I agree jalapeño would be a nice addition.
Good idea…we need a ripe mango? or wait until next Tuesday? Thanks, s
The perfect combo of two of my faves! Forget the chips – I could eat this with a big spoon!
mango and avocado are two faves of mine. this salsa is so good.. i’d add a bit of jalapeñno too, for a bit of a kick..
Thanks y’all. Next time I make it, I’ll try the jalapeño.
I love the Mango/Avocado mix … It gives me some ideas for future recipes, well done!
I’ve been creating mango recipes like crazy as we have a plethora of them here in Florida right now.
Thanks for this recipe.

Cheers, y’all. Glad you like it.
Avocado is my fav fruit…nice combo with mangoes, will try it soon..
Just catching up on my FB inbox and do you know we made a Mango Salsa last night very similar to this one, however, it does have some tomato in it! We served ours with some grilled mahi mahi.
Going to try this one soon!

I’ve made this salsa with tomatoes, and it’s good. Without them, it’s more sweet, and I do love it with fish. I need to buy more mangoes and make another batch!
